Day 19

Day 19th
Selfmade Workshops
Welcome to our 19th day of summer camp. The day started like every other with meeting in the Planary and breakfast. This day was different than the other because we had our own workshops which were distributed in three sessions.

After a great first session of our workshops we continued with the second session, third and then was lunch.
The most interesting part of the daz was the evening, our presentation hed our big BBQ. Before the presentation started every country cooked a typical meal for their country. The first guests arrived the show began. First, the fasshion show. The boys wore girls' clothes and the opposite. Then a lot of songs and a very emotional video was played. Everybody was sad because of the departure of participants in two days.

After very emotional moments, disco started. What happened there?…

Day 18

Today is the day we've all been waiting for, because of only one reason - our trip to Cologne (or should I say Köln)! We all rushed with breakfast, but we still had to wait for our bus which wasn't coming until 9:30. So long ....

Despite our excitement, we managed to be patient and when the bus actually came, everyone was incredibly happy. The driver then took us to the train station, and finally, we were on our way to Cologne! The train ride was almost an hour long, but it was worth it. And guess what? The train station was less than a minute away from the amazing cathedral that left everyone speechless! Our next stop was the EL DE house/museum that taught us more about the Nazi history while being really interesting.

After that, we had nearly 4 hours of free time which everyone spent in a different way: walking, shopping, sightseeing, taking photos, in general - being together. I cannot even begin to describe how amazing the day was, but unfortunately, that also came to an end; we had to gather in front of the cathedral at 16:30. Shortly after that, our train took us back to Bad Honnef where we continued the day with dinner at 18:30 and project groups at 20:00.

Unfortunately, we're running out of days to count until leaving and it makes us extremely sad, but I'm sure this day was the one that everyone will remember!

Day 17

Welcome back to our 17th day of the best summer camp ever.

Our day had started with a breakfast as usual. After that we had our first workshop with Patricia. We all had to form a statement that we believe in, and then we had to stand on the line when we agree with other people’s statements.

Our day went on with lunch and local activism workshop.
We had to build groups and create an local project in our community. We presented it to our judges and the best projects won.

After dinner we had small talks. Last time about our past, but this time about our future and we discussed the topic “Where are we going“.

Day 16

Dear diary,

Today we had breakfast earlier, because we traveled to Bonn. We visited there a museum about German history, which is called „Haus der Geschichte“. The guide guided us through the different times, starting with the oldest ones. After that we were in the meeting room of the museum and asked questions to a woman, who explained us the unclear parts.

Then we took the train to the center of Bonn and had free time there. Most of us spent the time with shopping and taking photos.

At half past four was our next meeting to do our street activism. We split up into different groups and presented our ideas and themes. For example inequality in education, racism or sexism.

After that we went back home and had dinner.
Then we talked about our reunion next year and had to fill in a paper where we want to go.

Hope we will see each other tomorrow.

Day 15

We woke up around 8 to have breakfast. Unfortunately, I was late and I had to sing as it was one of our rules.
After breakfast, we had our very first Human Rights workshop. We met the wonderful Hannah, who introduced us to it by showing us a few videos and playing a few human rights related ‘games’ with us.

That was followed by lunch, after which we had the second session of the workshop. When that ended, we had to prepare for our street activism in Bonn. That was quite easy and interesting, we’re looking forward to it. After preparation, we had our relaxing element groups that were followed by dinner.

At 8pm, we had our project groups and that’s when we wrote this. Unfortunately, our night ended at 11pm so we had to go to our bedrooms and wish each other a good night sleep.

Day 14

This day was very busy for us. We started it normally with a breakfast at 8.30. After that we had to prepare for Olympics-sport competition. Everybody was very excited, because we finally got a chance to show our sport spirit. We were divided into four teams. We had to cooperate to finish our tasks with a good result. We had a great time together and that made us feel more connected to each other.

After lunch and a little break, we visited the local swimming pool area. We spent three hours in a great atmosphere. Everyone found something interesting to do. These three hours went very fast and at 6 p.m. we were back in the Hostel.

In the evening talent show took place in out plenary room. Each of us showed our special skills like singing, dancing or playing instruments.  For us the biggest surprise was teamers´ performance which was really funny. It was a good feeling to show others what we are interested in.

That is how our day ended. Stay tuned to the next post!

Day 13

After a few days of rain and clouds, the sun was finally there to wish us good morning and breakfast.
We had a very special guest today, Lauriene. She was supposed to be a teamer, but unfortunately it didn't happen. Despite that, we were honored to attend her workshops. We were working with her about activism, learned many useful things and became ready to stand up for ourselves. The whole day wasn't spent in vain, because we are planning to be more locally active when we return to our homes.

We had some free time before and after lunch, and everybody spent it the way they wanted.
After that, we had element groups, where we talked about our yesterday's impressions, how our day passed and about plans for tomorrow…

Now we are here, sitting in the library, having project groups and writing our blog for today.
We wish you a good night and wait for our tomorrow's blog.

Day 12

The day started like every other, a meeting at 8:25 and breakfast at 8:30. But it wasn't that ordinary, it was actually PRESENTATION DAY! You know, the presentation we've been preparing for the last 4 days. After breakfast, we rehearsed and prepared for it.

Then we had lunch at the usual time, but dinner was much earlier because we wanted to have the presentation before it got dark. It all started in the Plenary room where workshop group 'Creative Writing and Activism' presented first as they read the pieces they've written.

The next was the workshop group 'Theatre’ with a modern version of ‘Romeo and Juliet’.

After that, we had to move outside to see the next 3 groups perform. Workshop group ‘Circus’ presented the newly gained skills, and the other 2 groups worked together; workshop group ‘Masks’ performed while the workshop group ‘Drums’ were playing. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that led to tears and afterwards some pizza.

The night ended with optional games and wishing each other goodnight.

Day 11

Hello!
Today was another great day of our SummerCamp. The day began with a workshop session, during which the groups started to prepare for the presentations.

After lunch some journalist arrived, because we prepared a press conference. Our other special guests were a former teamer and Hubert Simon, one founder of Campus15.
Every country had chosen one representative, who answered the questions and talked about his country and experiences during the camp.

After the press conference we had another workshop session to improve our skills.
In the evening we played a game named psychotherapist. Somebody had to stand in the middle of the circle and had to guess the disease of the whole group. To figure it out, he has to ask questions to the patients. The game was a little bit difficult for the person in the middle but at the end he figured it out.

After that game everybody could decide whether they want to go to sleep earlier or play another game, which is called Mafia.

I hope we will see each other again the next time we write a report for you.
Best wishes

Day 10

Hello everybody and welcome to our 10th day of summer camp 2016! :)

Our day started normally, at 8:25 we wished everybody a nice breakfast and then walked to the dining room. All of us drank a lot of tea because most of us are sick. Maybe because of the bad German weather.

After the  breakfast, our 2nd workshop session started: drums, circus, creative activism, mask building and theater. During drums the members of this workshop improved their drumming skills and started to learn for the big presentation on Friday. Like every other workshop.

The lunch was like every day very … interesting and after lunch the 3rd workshop session started and lasted until it was time for dinner.

After dinner we had our „small talks“ in our element groups. Everyone was very open minded and we learned a lot about each other. Overall, it was a very nice day  for every single one of us.

Day 9

The 9th of august,  this is the day we all have been waiting for a long time. This is the day when we were introduced the creative workshops. We could choose between 5 workshops: drums, creative activism, theatre, circus and masks. There was a representative for each workshop, and it was very difficult for us to choose only one, but somehow, we managed to do it.

After the lunch we took the group picture, and it was funny to… Eventually the time for first creative workshop came, and we were really excited to meet new team leaders. We were more then satisfied but also a little bit tired. That’s why we needed a small break before element groups. After dinner, we had our project groups where we worked really hard. That’s it from us for today.

Best wishes,

Day 8

As usually, our day started pretty early. It was really sunny, so we had a chance to go climbing. After the breakfast, we gathered in the Planary room to start our trip.

We had a beautiful way to our point; we took a bus, than a farry to cross the Rhine and two trains which took us to the final place. We really enjoyed our trip because of beautiful views and also because we had a chance to see grape fields.

When we reached climbing area, professional climber welcomed us and gave us tips how to climb safe. After putting on over equipment they showed us the proper way of climbing and separeted us in groups of four. Everbody played a special role in climbing and everybody got to try everything.

We walked on a rope swang on tires and climbed on a 30m wall. Some of us enjoyed it very much, some of us were terryfied, but for sure all of us were excited. It was an amazing experience that we had never tried before.

We followed the same way back to the hostel, we ate dinner and had a break. After that was movie time We saw a German movie called “The Wave”. It was very interesting and we enjoyed it. You must see it, it is very educational! At the end, we had to rest after an exciting and adventerous day.

Best wishes,

Day 7

The first thing in the morning was our meeting in the Planery room, where we wished each other a good meal. Breakfast was quite good and unlike the best of the day, we weren`t that sleepy because it was SWIMMING DAY!

Unfortunately, swimming was not supposed to come until after lunch, so we had to fill our time with some workshops. The most interesting one was about excluding people (not letting them join the conversation). Even though it was hard to ‘ignore’ our friends, like all of the workshops, it had a point.

Eventually, swimming time came. We had to walk there, but that didn’t mess with our enthusiasm. We spent 3 amazing hours together, which made us connect even more. It was a perfect moment for us to stop and rest for a while.

After the 3 hours passed, we went back to the hostel where we continued the day with the dinner and reviewing/discussing the rules we came up with ourselves. It was relaxing and very helpful and we said good night while looking back on the past week we spent together.

Best wishes

Day 6

As usually, our day started very early. At 8:25, we were already on our feet, ready for some new amazing adventures. After our gathering in the Planery room, breakfast and a short break, we had a discussion about the EU. Even though it lasted for 3 hours, we had a really good time. We had a chance to share our opinions about some Europe – related topics, such as its future, ecology, education…
After that, we had a very delicious lunch. We had some free time, and we went outside to enjoy the beautiful day. That was another thing that brought us closer.
When the free time finished, Croatian team leader greeted us with super interesting game called ‘Bunker’.
After that, we had our project and element groups, but the highlight of the day (and the whole week probably) was the 7 countries’ party. It began with songs from our countries, and then later we were all dancing and singing with international hits.

All of us were really tired and went to our rooms immidiatelly. That’s how our day ended: ‘Simply the best!’
Best wishes,

Day 5

Today, we were going outside again as we had to go rafting. Before we actually started rafting, we had to assemble ourselves boats! Every element group was working on their own resulting competition between them. Luckily none of the boats sank, and we had a lot of fun. Sadly, it was cut short because we had to go back to our hotel.

After our arrival we had a discussion about Europe as we see it, as well as couple of Europe – related workshops. We could choose between drawing Europe through our eyes, designing the EU logo or prepearing a theatre play.

The Event group had oranized a campfire event where we were frying marshmellos and banas mixed with chocolate. We had a really good time :)
Best wishes,

Day 4

Hello everyone! Today was the fourth day of our Summer Camp. We started the day with a delicious breakfast. Then we got an energizer, which is called ‘’My name is Joe’’ and after that we went on city hiking through Bad Honnef!

We started our trip at 9.30. We were divided into different groups. Each group was given some tasks to complete like taking photos with just 10 feet on the ground, taking group selfies and some other interesting stuffs. It took us a little time to find the right way on our maps and reach the final point which was the park on the Rhein. After some free time we came back to the hostel to prepare our national presentations.

Before dinner we got also meeting in our element groups, where we could talk about how our day went. In the evening we got our national presentations. All of them were very interesting. They helped us to know something more about our countries. Most of them had something special like traditional food and dance. It was a really nice experience.

Hope we will see each other again at the next writing.

Best wishes,

Day 3

Today was Miralem’s birthday. We met at 8:20 at the Plenary room to prepare the celebration for him. We planned to go hiking after lunch, but the weather was too bad, so we made indoor activities. After that, we went into the national groups and we thought of things we know about the other countries.

We discussed ideas and told the others more about our countries , after which we talked in our Element groups about our home towns and ourselves. Before we went to dinner we had a break which we spent outside trying to teach the other participants words from our languages. It was a very interesting experience and a lot of fun for everyone.

The last thing planned for us were the project groups after which we had a break. We’re hoping that the rest of our days will be as good as the first three and we’ll keep you updated on everything!

Best wishes, Your daily reporters

Day 2

It was a rainy morning. After the breakfast (which was great!), we played a mini-game whose goal was to introduce ourselves with the Hostel.

Afterwards, we rested & had lunch. None of us knew what was coming — Cooperative Adventure Games, which were not very comfortable for the participants, but they felt connected for the very first time.

Then, we had our first Element group meeting, in which we expressed some of our expiriences & facts.

Dinner came next & everyone was much more relaxed because of the Co. Ad. Games, so the atmosphere was getting better. After the dinner and a samll break, we had Camp treaty, in which the participants made their own camp rules they are to obey. When that was done, everyone hung out for a while, and once we returned to our rooms — everything was so much easier.

We’re going to keep you in touch.
Best wishes,
Your daily CAMPUS15 reporters.

Day 1

So… The 1st of August finally came and each and every one of us was super excited about this long-waited event. The national groups met at the airport and eventually left their home countries. When we arrived in Germany, we were greeted by the friendly organizer, Hubert Simon who then took us to our temporary home for the following 3 weeks.

When we arrived, it was awkward because we were a little scared of meeting new people (40 of them). As the time passed, we learnt some things about every participant. We realized we were all here for the same reason — to make a difference (and of course, to have fun). The hostel staff welcomed us with a wide smile on their faces which made us feel like we’re at home. After that, we had our first dinner which brought us closer because we were all sitting at the tables with people from different countries.

In the evening, we had some creative games that were about introducing ourselves. It was fun doing it and it helped us feel more comfortable with sharing in front of ‘strangers’.

For now, that’s all from us. We promise we’ll keep you updated about every single thing happening here!
 Best wishes,
